Concrete NZ is thrilled to announce it will be hosting its first-ever Concrete Industry Awards at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron on Thursday 23 March 2023.

The Concrete Industry Awards are outwards facing, focussing on projects and initiatives that appeal to clients and stakeholders outside the concrete industry, as well as Concrete NZ members.

INDUSTRY AWARDS

To enhance opportunities for celebrating achievements in the concrete industry, Concrete NZ has introduced two annual awards events.

The first event remains part of the established annual Concrete NZ conference formal dinner, and is primarily inward-facing, appealing to Concrete NZ members across all the Sector Groups and the Learned Society. These Conference Awards were held recently at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua which was a huge success.

The second, new event - the Concrete Industry Awards - is outwards facing, and projects or initiative focussed, appealing to construction businesses and their clients outside of the concrete industry, as well as Concrete NZ members.

The introduction of the new awards has seen the Learned Society’s Concrete Awards, Concrete3 Sustainability Awards and Readymix Awards discontinued. However, the revised awards framework does acknowledge and respect the historical awards.

Concrete NZ will soon release its Concrete Industry Awards Entry Guide to explore the new award categories, which will be presented during the awards gala at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, stunningly located near the Harbour Bridge in Westhaven Marina.

Concrete NZ looks forward to celebrating all the outstanding entries that proudly showcase concrete as the resilient low carbon material of choice for a modern New Zealand.

PREMIER CONCRETE AWARD

This is the Concrete Industry Award’s top honour and recognises the overall winner of the eight category awards as outlined in this Guide.

EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE (MONTE CRAVEN AWARD)

Introduced in 1998 as part of the (now superseded) New Zealand Concrete Society Awards, this category seeks to encourage and recognise closer collaboration between architecture and engineering.

EXCELLENCE IN CONCRETE INFRASTRUCTURE

Often unseen and unappreciated, New Zealand’s concrete infrastructure is critical to the nation’s prosperity and wellbeing, literally underpinning our transport network and three waters as well as offering protection against the impact of climate change.

EXCELLENCE IN COMMERCIAL CONCRETE

Along with the traditional medium and high-rise mixed-use commercial buildings, this category also includes the burgeoning retirement village sector as well as health care, retail/hospitality and educational facilities.

Landscape architecture sees environmental planning combine with design practice (including material selection) and skilled construction to enrich an outside space, enabling people and nature to connect.
